Hire the best entertainment you can afford. Many people forget about the fact that guests will remember the fun they had more than the dress that you wore or even what appetizers were served.

Although some want a low-key or formal affair, getting your guests on the dance floor and playing the right mix of party favorites should be the rule.

Good “listening music” doesn’t always make for the best party music. Keep that in mind when you make up that request list. Don’t try to educate your guests on what “good” music is… music is an art form that is subjective in tastes. Try to let the entertainers and professional have the freedom to “work the crowd” and to “read the dance floor” to play just the right set at just the right moment.

Songs like the Chicken Dance, Macarena, Electric Slide and the YMCA have been staples at parties everywhere. But just a few sprinkled in is your best bet. Too many may appear to be tacky or cheesy to the majority of your guests.
